Cookie-Richtlinie

When you visit Stadtlogik, we place small data files called cookies on your device. These help the site work properly, remember your preferences, and give us insight into how our journalism is being read. This page explains the types of cookies we use, how you can control them, and what your choices mean for your experience on stadtlogik.de.

What types of cookies does Stadtlogik use?

We organise cookies into four categories: essential, analytics, functional, and advertising or tracking. Only essential cookies are active by default; all others require your consent.

Essential cookies are necessary for the site to function – they enable secure logins, manage your cookie preferences, and allow basic navigation. Without them, parts of the site may not work. Analytics cookies (such as those from a privacy-compliant analytics provider) help us understand which articles are most read and how readers move through the site, so we can improve our coverage. Functional cookies remember your language choice or saved settings, making your visit more convenient. Advertising or tracking cookies may be used to deliver relevant sponsored content or to measure the performance of our commercial partnerships, but only if you explicitly opt in.

How can you manage your cookie preferences?

You are in control. When you first arrive on Stadtlogik, a Cookie Settings panel appears, asking you to choose which categories you accept. You can accept all, reject all non-essential cookies, or customise your choices category by category.

To change your decision later, simply click the “Cookie Settings” link in the footer of any page. That same panel will reopen, and you can adjust your preferences at any time. If you later decide to withdraw consent for a particular category, the cookies already placed in that category will be deleted from your device within a reasonable timeframe. We do not use cookies to track you across other websites unless you have given specific permission.

How this works in practice

Imagine you are a reader in Germany visiting an article about Swedish economic policy. When the page loads, you see a small banner at the bottom with three options: “Accept All”, “Reject Non‑Essential”, and “Cookie Settings”. You click “Cookie Settings”, choose only essential and analytics cookies, then confirm. Essential cookies are set immediately; analytics cookies are set only after you confirm. Later, you decide you would like to receive personalised sponsored content. You return to the footer, open Cookie Settings, and tick the advertising category. Your choice is saved, and new cookies for that purpose are placed. You can reverse this just as easily.
