This page explains how Stadtlogik (stadtlogik.de) checks every piece of journalism we publish, so you know exactly what happens behind the scenes. If you see an error or have a question about a fact, you will find clear instructions here on what we do and how to reach us.
What does this page mean for you?
This policy sets out what we verify, how we handle sources, and how we correct mistakes. It is part of our commitment to trustworthy Swedish journalism that helps readers understand complex issues without spin or oversimplification. You can rely on the fact that every claim we publish has been examined.
We know that accuracy builds trust. That is why we have a dedicated fact-checking lead, Daniela Sauer, who oversees source verification and corrections. Our editorial process includes named writers, an editor review, and a fact-checking step before any article goes live.
What do we verify?
We verify every factual claim that forms the basis of a story, including statistics, quotes, dates, and descriptions of events. If we cannot confirm a claim with primary sources or reliable secondary sources, we either remove it or mark it clearly as unverified.
Our verification covers the full range of our coverage: Swedish news, politics, economy, culture, society, and current affairs. We apply the same standard to original reporting, analysis, and background pieces. Sponsored content and commercial material are clearly labelled and are not subject to the same editorial verification, but even then we will not publish false information.
How do we handle sources?
We use a clear source hierarchy, detailed on our Sources & Standards page. Primary sources (official documents, direct interviews, raw data) are preferred. Secondary sources (established news agencies, reputable peer-reviewed research) are used when primary access is not possible. We always attribute sources, and we distinguish between on‑the‑record, background, and off‑the‑record information.
If a source is anonymous, we explain why and what we know about their credibility. We never invent quotes or fabricate sources. Our Editorial Policy provides more detail on sourcing standards.
What about unverified claims or rumours?
We label unverified claims and rumours explicitly, using phrases such as “has not been independently confirmed” or “allegedly.” We do not present speculation as fact. If a rumour is widely circulated but unconfirmed, we may report on its existence only with a clear warning, and we always explain why we cannot verify it at that time.
Who oversees fact-checking?
Daniela Sauer (Ansvarig för faktagranskning, emma.sandberg@stadtlogik.de) leads our fact‑checking team. She is responsible for source verification, corrections, and the overall integrity of our published facts. Chefredaktör Simon Schwarz (anders.lindqvist@stadtlogik.de) reviews sensitive articles and is the final authority on editorial standards. You can meet the whole team on our Our Team page.
How can you report a mistake?
If you spot an error, please email our fact‑checking team at factcheck@stadtlogik.de. We will acknowledge your report within 48 hours and investigate promptly. If we confirm the error, we will publish a correction according to our Corrections Policy. We also maintain a public log of all significant corrections. You can also reach our general editorial team at info@stadtlogik.de.
How this works in practice
Imagine we are writing about a new Swedish government employment statistic. Our Wirtschaftreporter Eva Martin finds the figure in a government press release and checks it against the underlying data from Statistiska centralbyrån. She drafts the article, citing the official source. The piece is reviewed by Redaktionschef Katrin Kaiser, who checks that the interpretation matches the data. Daniela Sauer then verifies the source link and confirms the number has not been misquoted. Only after that sign‑off does the article go live. If a reader later spots a typo in the date, they email factcheck@stadtlogik.de, we correct it within 24 hours, and we add a note to the bottom of the article.
Who stands behind this policy?
Stadtlogik is owned and operated by Stadtlogik Media Ltd., a private company registered in Gibraltar (company number C 92009, Malta Business Registry). Our registered office is Office 9, Business Centre, Valletta, 0000. Commercial partnerships and advertising never determine editorial conclusions, and this independence is codified in our Ownership & Funding disclosure. The editorial team, led by Chefredaktör Simon Schwarz, makes all content decisions independently of commercial interests.
In short
Every article you read on Stadtlogik has passed through a named writer, an editor, and a dedicated fact‑checker before publication. If we make a mistake, we correct it transparently, and we invite you to help us keep our journalism accurate. You can trust that we take the same careful approach to every fact we publish.
